Typical views on Kaua'i. While there are many, many, many breathtaking views from all angles, there is stuff that, well, you see everywhere all the time but not on postcards or calendars. Still, live is life  and the beauty of reality can be funny (or hazardous).

Teach Your Cat How To Surf Using Photoshop

It's simple - cats , or felines, don't listen to people. So set your cat up by attracting it on board a surf board or boogie board in your yard with some cat food, take photos of her/him/it from different angles and in whatever image size you prefer to use and try various exposure and aperture settings. Then go to the beach and take photos of the waves with the same settings you use to capture your cat. Not too much zooming though because you probably won't have zoomed much on your cat. Going through the images you will see similarly toned examples of cat and ocean to work with. Then with Photoshop you can select the cat in action, patch out, clone stamp or overlay the cat food with a separate layer; balance the tone with the sea; work on training her/him/it how to surf.

I took this picture on Kaua'i's pretty barren Nukoli'i (aka Kitchens) Beach as it is a continuously active wave zone without 30 footers. Better surfing conditions for cats, dogs... rabbits, whatever you like.

Day 5 (not in a row)

Today is Saturday and the quarter moon was rising approximately 1pm. Problem was, it wasn't big enough. So do some zooming and exposure balancincing and take 3 images of the whOle image you want to see on your monitor and start stitching them together. I will level the landscape and do some tone mapping afterwards.

There now. Once my illusion is flattened as an image I can transform it into a level image and save as the original size after: selecting the image (Ctrl A); free transform it (Ctr T), drag a guide down to the the top left sea level and tilt the image until it is level; crop; then reset the image size to its prior width and height (2048 x 2655). Or wait until the full moon and pretty much do the same.

Day 4 Hapa Imaging

This is just a quick example of what hapa imaging is. I saw this whale breaching about yesterday, and took some images (actually caught one), and then zoomed back to capture the sky also. Yes, kept the exposure balanced. Then once I selected the 2 halves of the whOle image - since we see the sea and  the sky through our eyes - I opened Photoshop and did it. Part this/Part that... hapa dis/hapa dat...

Day 3

It didn't take long to figure out that it was not the Bloggers fault that my posts could not be read. It was, in fact, my default. When I checked the template settings and saw, aw, that post background color is set as 'white'; and that the page text color is set as 'white', all I had to do was reset the text color to 'black' and now it's all visible.
Then on to more blogucation today while trying to figure out what CSS means... Can't See S---?
